Brenda is currently a fourth year Education/Sociology major who aspires to become an educator for young children. Her first experience with teaching was in her senior year of high school where she served as an assistant preschool teacher and felt that it was part of her calling as children looked up to her. She continues to teach young children in her hometown, Anaheim, at the YMCA. While there, she engages with children in many activities such as academics as well as physical activity. Brenda dabbles in Gymnastics and other sports such as baseball, soccer, and serves as a volunteer coach for basketball. She is also heavily involved in the Food Program which aids to battle children’s food insecurity and efforts to provide schools and the community with healthy meals.

These experiences have taught Brenda the art of lending a hand as well as portraying a role model and leader for younger children as well as her peers. She joined SAA her end of Sophomore year which taught her a new set of skills that helped her professionally. In Spring 2018, she was elected as SAA President. As president, Brenda strives to enhance the student experience for undergraduates as well as encourage UCI pride!

She is also involved in Latin American Student Organization which provides a social and cultural space for all of Latin American Anteaters.
