Forty Years of Fostering Unity

UCI's Cross Cultral Center celebrates its legacy of activism, social justice, community, education, empowerment and diversity.

On Oct. 16, 1974, the Cross-Cultural Center was born, the first of its kind in the University of California system.
Now 40 years old, the facility aims to create a socially just campus, foster cultural identities and offer opportunities for community engagement. It provides programs, activities and services to encourage the personal, social and academic success of UCI’s diverse students.

Jeffrey Maganis '07 Strives to 'ChargeAll'

Low battery? Alumnus, Jeffrey Maganis '07, inventor, founder and business owner, has the solution with his public phone charging station company, ChargeAll. What first started out as a crowdfunded project with the world's smallest portable power outlet, has grown to a highly successful business, with a history of holding the title for the highest funded battery pack of all time on IndieGoGo.

His entrepreneurial spirit
all started in his VDC apartment selling refurbished iPods/iPhones during his undergraduate years at UCI. "When I was an undergrad, I joined almost every single business/advertising/marketing organization just to get exposure and learn what was out there," he states.

His advice for alumni entrepreneurs: "Never give up, constantly revise your original idea until you find what people truly care about."

Maganis recently spoke at a
1 Million Cups Irvine Program event supported by the UCI ANTrepreneur Center and Blackstone LaunchPad. (pictured above)
